Currently the house of the circle is featuring the audio/video recording of Anthony Braxton’s first Sonic Genome project, recorded at Wesleyan University’s hockey rink in May 2003. A Sonic Genome is an eight-hour continuous performance featuring over 50 musicians, click here for more info.
For the 2003 recording, there were two different video angles, and four audio channels: an overall field recording of the entire experience, one moving set of microphones capturing different moments of activity, close-miked ‘friendly experiencer’ musicians that move independently around the space, and one mix of all these elements combined.
Whenever you click on the circle, you are dropped into a randomized 10-minute sample of this Sonic Genome recording. While the audio channel corresponds with the video imagery, it can be any of the four channels mentioned above.
