Conducted by Aakash Mittal, with special guests Kyoko Kitamura, Anne Rhodes, and Carl Testa
Presented in partnership with the Tri-Centric Foundation
Face the Music explores the compositions of one of the most revered figures in contemporary improvised music, Anthony Braxton. Under the leadership of conductor Aakash Mittal, and joined by special guests and long-time Braxton collaborators Kyoko Kitamura (voice), Anne Rhodes (voice), and Carl Testa (bass and electronics), these young musicians will perform music ranging from Braxton's Creative Orchestra Music of the 1970s to his Ghost Trance Music from the 1990s.
This event is part of Braxton75, a two-year initiative of the Tri-Centric Foundation leading up to the composer's 75th birthday in 2020, funded in part by the Robert D. Bielecki Foundation. For more information, please visit tricentricfoundation.org.
